I’ve become bored with tumblr.  Find me back at my old blog… here.

Ok so this isn’t exactly the “artistic” video I was going for (like I mentioned in a previous post) but it’s a video none the less.  I just had some random shots of Marsh Creek that I figured I’d throw together.  It’s whatever.  And I was trying to find just a simple song to put over it, but I ended up using some random guitar nonsense I recorded when I was testing out my Zoom H2 a while back.   Also, it looks like crap when it isn’t in HD.  I want different equipment already.

Another Jenny Lewis post.  She posted a couple songs from her new album on youtube with quirky little intros with Ben Gibbard and Jonathan Rice.  I liked this one the best; Ben waiting in Jenny’s bath tub for the album to come out.

I meant to put this video on here.  Its the one that was shot for streettalkin.com.  But because the video on the actual website looks really compressed, I figured I’d put it on my Vimeo site too.  I think it looks a lot better on here.

I’ve been watching a lot of videos on Vimeo.  A lot of people that use this site are filmmakers or just really creative and it’s easy to find really well made videos, plus their HD channel is awwwesome.  Anyways, I’m going to be working on some more “artistic” videos if you will, since I’ve been learning more about my particular camera.  Once I get a few extras (lenses, filters, etc.) I think things will be looking pretty sick.

Exile on South St.

That title is so lame.  Anyways, while on myspace Wednesday, I entered to win tickets from YROCK for Liz Phair’s show that night.  I had originally thought about going to it, and contemplated getting tickets a few weeks before, but with finances and nobody really interested in going, I opted not to.  So when I saw the bulletin, I thought, “Why not enter the contest?  I’d go if it was free.”  Well, low and behold I won the tickets!  It was kind of crazy, because I was chatting with Jamie and told her, “I guess I didn’t win those tickets.”  And right after I said that, I had a missed call from YROCK.

And the actual show was surprisingly good.  Liz re-released her 1993 debut album, Exile in Guyville, for its 15 year anniversary.  So she was playing the album in its entirety.  I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from the crowd.  I figured it would be mostly women in their 30s and 40s.  While there were a lot of those women, there was a lot of younger people like me, and a suprising amount of guys.

And I’ve never heard really great things about Liz’s live shows, so I wasn’t expecting greatness, but like I said, it was a pretty good show.  Obviously I knew she was playing the whole album, so I heard all the songs I liked.  I think the highlight for me, was during her song “Flower”.  If you don’t know the song, aside from its infamous lyrics, it has two contrasting vocal tracks, so Liz wouldn’t be able to pull off the song without another singer.  Earlier in the night she asked if anyone could sing it and to keep that in mind.  When it came time, she ended up by passing tradition and picked an overly eager gentleman in the front.  They had some funny banter on stage and then went in to the song.  The guy worked that falsetto, let me tell you.

I didn’t disappear.  And I think if you are reading this, you are probably a person that knows I haven’t disappeared.  But in case you are not….I’M STILL HERE.

And to update on my last post…all I had to do was wait like a week longer to find out Jenny added more and more dates, including one in Philly and one in Wilmington.  I have much closer choices now.  Whew.

Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue

I know I’ve been slacking over here. Not that I haven’t been doing fun things, like watching friends loose their independence, playing with a new camera, and the usual suspects rocking out.

But today I learned very exciting info over at Pitchfork. Jenny Lewis’ follow up to Rabbit Fur Coat, titled Acid Tongue, will be out in September! And a whole slew of guests will be on it. Check out all the info here.

Although, she is skipping over Philly on her tour. Looks like I’m going to have to hit D.C. or NYC to see her, which I am totally planning on doing.

East Hundred - Clip from new album

I’ve grown very fond of East Hundred.  When I saw them at the Fire, they played a few songs from their upcoming album, so I was excited to see that they posted a clip from said album (entitled “Passenger”) on their myspace.

They also posted up the last installment of their mockumentry, “On the Road Again”.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get to their show at Johnny Brendas on the 24th.  They rock.
